In this verse, God is calling us to hand over our control to Him- to surrender.
Caleb Weidner - Co-Founder and Owner:
Formerly a design major, Caleb Weidner specializes in marketing while Dean Carver studies business administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship and a minor in finance.
The start of Forty-Six Ten takes place in our Messiah apartment after midnight (college, right?)
Caleb was dealing and struggling mentally with a hard breakup in the winter of 2022.
On a random cold night in January, Dean came up to Caleb and asked him to start a business alongside him.
Initially, Caleb thought "No way I'm doing that, it's not going to work".
But Dean, being the good salesman he is, eventually convinced Caleb to jump on board.
Wondering what passion we could integrate into a business model/venture, we surmised a clothing brand could easily match our strong suits, as Caleb has design and social media experience, while Dean has managing and administration experience.
We knew we wanted to do business with a lead cause in something we both cared deeply about.
Anxiety and depression were the perfect matches, as we have both experienced them in both our lives and the lives of people close to us.
After some research, we found there were not many Christian apparel brands specifically geared toward mental health support. That needed to change.
Eventually, Dean suggested a clothing brand founded on a Bible verse.
Caleb looked up one of his favorite verses, Psalms 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” and began to mock up some logo and design ideas for the brand on the nearest sheet of lined paper.
That night, Forty-Six Ten was born.
We then went on to craft our official business plan for Messiah’s Shark-Tank-like style competition- where we would pitch our business venture in front of a live audience and investors.
After weeks of late nights crafting and revising this plan and presentation, we took third place in the competition and won our start-up funding. It’s been a blur from there.
From our first clothing line of summer apparel to our first Christian festival at Creation Festival Northeast 2022, we’ve been blessed to carry out our mission with what God has so graciously blessed us with- the opportunity and funding to let people know they aren’t alone in their struggles through our faith-based apparel.
We ultimately believe bringing awareness to mental health will allow people to more easily bring their experiences and struggles to the light and reach out for help or share their stories.
